The official opening of the One Place Centre on Friday 11th July by John Whittingdale MP OBE saw the fruition of a dream to bring together partners with one common objective.
It is tailored to meet local need and to provide a diverse and comprehensive range of information and services under one roof.
This is a community led partnership involving voluntary, statutory and private agencies where a high standard of customer service will be key in its success.
The model takes a holistic approach to community needs and is designed to encourage self-help and partnership working. It will provide a local base for organisations and groups to showcase their work and to enable effective multi agency working, sharing of resources including training and development. The model of One Place provides: - Professional advice and information alongside a range of services
- Can create synergy between different professionals
- Is flexible in the way services are offered
- Offers physical convenience and social contact – especially valuable to the more vulnerable
- Can provide economies of scale
- Makes the most of local opportunities
The opportunity to move to these newly refurbished, larger premises has meant that the range of Tourist Information and Community Information has been extended to meet demand. This has enabled the centre to hold a wider range of Tourist Information and merchandise along with diverse and extensive Community Information which covers all age groups, and all areas including health and well being, safety, social activities, advice on everyday living, housing and much more. The One Place staff team are happy to access both local and national information and will undertake research on particular subject areas on request.
